The mom was on a work related video call when she was shot, according to police in Florida. Chilling 911 calls captured the moments after a Florida mom was fatally shot in the head in front of her co-workers by her toddler, who found an unsecured gun in the apartment. Partly redacted audio of the 911 call recorded a man, apparently Avery, pleading with emergency medical personnel to hurry. A toddler who stumbled upon a loaded gun has accidentally shot and killed his mother, who was on a Zoom call. The state attorney's office said a police investigation determined that the gun was in a "Paw Patrol" backpack in the couple's bedroom.Ī single shot was fired, and "forensic evidence clearly established that the child possessed and independently fired the weapon," the prosecutor's office said. "I know it's tragic, I know it may not have been something that that person wanted to do, but now you have consequences," Altamonte Springs Police Officer Rob Ruiz told reporters Tuesday. Shamaya Lynn,21, was on a conference call when a loud bang rang out, causing Lynn to fall backwards as a toddler stood in the background, according to Altamonte. Neither of the two children who were at the home at the time were injured, police said. Online court records did not appear to show a case, and it was not clear whether he had an attorney. Police have released audio from the 911 calls made Wednesday when a 21-year-old mother was shot by her toddler in the head. Avery was arrested Tuesday and was in custody Tuesday night. They said the toddler took the weapon, moved behind the mother and fired a single shot. ![]()
